About these tariffs.

These arbitrary applications of tariffs are a movement to transfer additional wealth from the lower, working, and middle classes to the wealthy class. What else would Trump and his cronies be up to? To think that he is doing this for the betterment of humankind and the planet is outrageous.

Now that the US government has slapped 10 to 50% tariffs on many of the products that move into this country from around our planet, large amounts of money will begin to pour into the coffers of the US government. For example, a $40,000 vehicle being purchased by an importer could result in a $10,000 deposit into the US treasury.

Once other nations of the world apply their own or reciprocal tariffs to imports from the US, large amounts of money will begin to pour into the treasuries of these countries.

Global trade is not going to come to a screeching halt! It will continue.

After a time, when all of the deals are made, the tariff rates are adjusted and the dust settles, the US and its trade partners may end up with only a 10-15% overall tariff rate increase on global trade, over and above the taxes that were being levied as of the end of March 2025. Now, consider that this is 15% of the total trade of billions of dollars. This a whole bunch of money being transferred to the treasuries of the US and other nations. Using these tariffs to fund tax cuts and subsidies for the wealthy classes will complete the scam.

Let us not be fooled by the noises about beautiful factories being built in the US and millions of wonderful jobs pouring back into the States. These dreams will be only
minimally fulfilled and with the lowest possible wages and environmentally disastrous impacts. Last week I saw Trump on the tube grinning ear-to-ear while proclaiming that “we are going to be rich, rich, rich!!”. He is referring to himself and his friends in high places.

Allowing a few people to wield such authority must be stopped. In the US, the manner in which we elect our representatives must be changed so that we all have friends in government positions, not just those who hold 95% of the wealth. We the people must also have the ability to immediately hold unjust government actors responsible.
